The Cross River State-born Actress is the oldest of the four children of her parents. She had her primary and secondary school education in Calabar and Lagos respectively before she read Remedial Studies for one year at the University of Calabar after which she eventually graduated from Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) where she studied Medical Microbiology. She got a job at Bauchi State General Hospital.
Kate Changed the direction of her profession line in 1993 when when she auditioned for a lead role in the then movie "When The Sun Sets" and was successful. She tied the nut with a British man, Roderick Nuttall in 1999 and gave birth to a baby girl, Gabrielle Nuttall in 2000. It took her 15 years before she could win her first award in leading role when she bagged the African Movie Academy Award for Actress In Leading Role for the movie "Stronger Than Pain".
